Mickey was from Asheboro NC. I had the opportunity of knowing Mickey’s high school football coach, Coach Lee J. Stone. Coach Stone and I have had many conversations about football, Asheboro High School and Mickey. Coach Stone spoke with the highest regard for Mickey’s athletic ability and the warmest regard for Mickey. “Coach" was very saddened at Mickey’s death.
10/12/09 Reese Helms I played football with this fellow BLUE COMET for 2 years. Mickey was two years ahead of me at Asheboro. He played Fullback and I beleuve linebacker or def. tackle. Mickey was the first football player to go to CMA from Asheboro. Lee Johnson was the second and I was the third. Mickey was a great teammate and a fine person. I do not know how he passed
