Medic Training - 9/66 Fort Sam Houston TX (San Antonio)

Parachute jump school - 1/67 Fort Benning GA

2/67 Assigned 1/502 101st ABN DIV

12/67 101st ABN DIV Deployed to RVN, took part in Tet Offensive 68 and several operations.

12/68 30 day leave stateside (visited CMA and spoke to student body)

1/69 redeploy to RVN took part in Hamburger Hill May 69

6/69 returned to states honorable discharge

1/70 Re-enlisted in Army for duty in RVN. I'd rather get shot at than crapped on by the hippies! Assigned to MACV as medical adviser training South Vietnamese medics.

10/70 I got my wish, chopper shot down/ evacuated to states/ 6 months later I could remember things. 11/72 Discharged medically.

Of all my memories I cherish those of CMA and have many times revisited old faces and old places to be with my friends again, but only in my memories and dreams. I hope to make a reunion one time before I die.

I was one of the idiots that took part in the raid on the officers quarters third floor of B Company when we released all those pigeons into their quarters. There was about 8 or 9 of us that did that. I was not the leader and planner but a follower. It was a hoot at the time. Hard to hold back the laughs and smiles next morning at formation when the officers showed up with pigeon feathers, crap and blood all over their uniforms.

I had to confess I could not carry that to my grave.

The food in the mess hall! Sgt Benson, James Renneker, Donald Jensen, Dewey Poole, John Burgess, Graham Creech, Art Flowers, Salem Agustus Van Every III, James Lattay, Roddy Mac Neil, George and Randy Ray and so many others that I looked on as very special people, as brothers all who were a part and special part of my life. All my friends buddies and co-conspirators in crimes!
