steve lost to steve rowell in the ping pong championship held on stage on the auditorium. was a tremendous player on the tennis court. great guy to know. i miss you steve
I coached a fine group of young men as tennis coach between 1967-70. Steve was among the finest players I have ever seen at any level of the game. I am convinced that he could have played at a major university had he continued to improve and work at his game. I was truly saddened and distressed to learn of his death some years ago. I reached out to his family in Charleston but never received a reply from them. I wanted to share some Steve stories and to tell them what a privilege it was for me to have know this fine young man.
