Bette Knott Weathers, lovingly known as "Mama Bette" to all her family and friends, passed away peacefully at Wake Med on September 12, 2013 with her family by her bedside. She was born May 15, 1925 in Knightdale to the late Robert Lee Knott and Eva Harrison Knott. Bette graduated from Knightdale High School. She was married to the late Benjamin Ashley Weathers, II, lovingly remembered as "Daddy Billy" for over 65 years. Bette and Billy were very active in the Wendell Community. They were both staunch Democrats and devoted fans of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Bette was a charter member of the Hoe "N" Hope Garden Club, past President of the Wendell Historical Society, and she loved her Tuesday Morning Bridge Club. As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of Hephzibah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years. Bette was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was especially fond of the time spent together at their cottage at Atlantic Beach. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 1794 Wendell Blvd, Wendell, NC 27591 with Reverend Aaron Wallace officiating. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W. Gannon Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27591. The Weathers family will receive friends after the graveside and other times at her home, 4508 Rolesville Road, Wendell, NC 27591.

Surviving are her children: Lee Weathers Garrett of Wendell, Benjamin Ashley "Benny" Weathers III and wife, Laura of Wendell, Jill Weathers Eddins and husband, Joe of Zebulon, Eve Weathers Herring of Wilmington and Amy Weathers Nuttall and husband, John of Raleigh; grandchildren: Mike Phillips (Lisa), Ashley Cantin (Steven), Audrey Crawford (David), Benjamin Weathers (Marty), Hunter Gentel (Ryan), Weathers Eddins (Lauren), Asheton Herring, Quinn Herring, Harrison Nuttall and Piersson Nuttall; great-grandchildren: Cameron, Lauren, Michael and Gabrielle Phillips, Landon and Huntley Grace Cantin, Finn and Wood Weathers, Mary Weathers Gentel, Aubrey Eddins and Laura Ashley Crawford; and her special caregiver, Becky Hunter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Evelyn Knott Stevens and Elaine Knott Hopkins.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church Building Fund.
