Lorraine Bernice Mokry
Lorraine B. (nee: Solfest) Mokry, 87, passed away on June 24, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints.

She was born on March 20, 1924, in Chimney Rock (Mondovi), to the late Benny and Mary (nee: Norby) Solfest. On September 19, 1945, immediately after his return home from WWII, she was united in marriage to the late Harold Mokry.

By 1950, the couple moved to Racine where they eventually became the owners of Arrow Carpet where Lorraine worked until her retirement in 1991.

Lorraine was very proud of her Associate in Accounting and often referred to it as her “mid-life degree.” She was a hardworking business woman who also deeply loved her family. She was known as an excellent entertainer and cook, and always hosted family events. She loved to knit and made baby caps for the hospital. She also enjoyed gambling and going to casinos both in Wisconsin and in Las Vegas. She was a life-long Lutheran, a charter member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, and also provided her children with the best gift of all: an introduction to the teachings of Christ.

Lorraine will be deeply missed by her three sons, Harold Michael (Sandra Chaignot) Mokry Jr., Daniel Bryn (Ann) Mokry, and Rev. Richard Bruce (Rev. Carol) Mokry; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four dear brothers; and three wonderful sisters and best friends. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Sharon Mokry; one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services in honor of Lorraine will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, July 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Entombment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, June 30, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mike,

I am so sorry for your loss!  It is hard losing our parents!  My dad was only 72 when he died in 2000, and mama was also 72 when she died in 2003.  It takes time to get over losing a parent, but you will always have good memories and you can never forget that!  It was nice seeing you at the reunion in May.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Mike, We are so blessed to have our Mothers give birth to us, feed us,and take care of us all of our lives, and even after they meet Our Lord, they will continue to still be with us .  My Mother passed away in 1998, and not a day goes by that I do not think of her, as will be the case in you and your families lives.  Everyday, as I do, I thank Our Lord for our parents that he entrusted us with.  She left you with a remarkable legacy, that you and your family will always be proud of.

We are all family, having lived together at CMA, and we all trust that you will know how sorry we are of her passing.  May God Bless Your Family.

Sincerely   Leo Fuller

Suzanne and I want you know we are thinking of you, and hold you close to our hearts.  Mothers are special to us.  I still have mine, age 95, and count each day as a gift.  We will be thinking of you in the days ahead.  I lost my Dad in 1981.  Time doesn't heal all wounds, but it does dull the pain.
