Margaret “Jean” Gainey Rhinefield of Maxton passed away at the age of 73 on Monday, April 1, 2013.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Valery Tyson. Burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.
 
Jean was the daughter of the late Jasper and Bertha Byrd Gainey born on April 13, 1939. She worked as a legal secretary with Moser, Garner, and Bruner Attorneys at Law, retiring after many years of service. She was a lifelong faithful member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She especially enjoyed blessing others with the Church’s Card Ministry. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who truly loved spending time with her family.
 
She is survived by her husband John Rhinefield of the home, her daughter Suwan R. Young and husband Mitchell of Laurinburg, brothers William Gainey and wife Bonnie Tarboro and James M. Gainey, sister Martha Byrd Grundmann and husband Bill of Silver Springs, Md., mother-in-law Geneva Rhinefield of Laurinburg, her grandchildren Tia Y. Locklear and husband Chris and Bethany Young, great-grandson Kyle Locklear, and a host of nieces and nephews.
 
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
 
Memorial donations are requested to be made in the memory of Mrs. Rhinefield’s to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Maxton, NC.
 
Services entrusted to Richard Boles Funeral Service.

Billy Bradham (1972)

jean was the colonel's personal secretary during my first year at CMA. she was always personable & a breath of fresh air at an all male military academy. i visited with her at an early reunion. she was still the sweet & classy lady i remembered. i wish i had told her that half of the cadet corps had a crush on her. jean you are missed by many
